I am a fine art painter whose work in clay is an extension of my art - the clay is a palette for my expressions of line, color, and space. This is my first gallery show with only ceramic pieces. I am painting, scraping, and weaving waves of land, sea, and air into pieces that are both sculptural and functional. And only after kiln firing where all the colors, minerals and clay react to each other with the burning heat, can I see the final piece I imagined. Lately, I have been experimenting with oxides, slips, underglazes, and stains on porcelain clay. The white, smooth surface of porcelain has become my clay canvas.

I took my first clay classes at Muddy Waters Clay Center 2009 and 2010 and became studio member 2011.

I have been influenced by all the Muddy Waters Clay Center artists. Also, all my life I have used ceramics designed by the artists working for Arabia clay factory in Finland. Also, irregular organic glassware forms of Finnish architect Alvar Aalto still fascinates me.
